Our Story

The idea for AskJules was born in 2008, when our founder, Julie Pool, was supporting her son Oliver as he prepared to leave home for university. Oliver has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and together they faced the challenge of balancing full-time care with the independence and vibrant student life he deserved.
With Julie’s support, Oliver achieved true independent living. He moved into a lively student village, managed his own team of Personal Assistants, and received 24/7 care while fully enjoying university life.

Mission

During this time, Julie learned the complexities of direct payments - a government initiative allowing individuals to take control of their care. While the benefits were clear, the administration behind it could feel overwhelming. Julie worked tirelessly to master the process, determined to make independence easier to achieve for others too.
Vision

Julie recognised that many young disabled adults were being held back - not by their disability, but by a lack of control over their care and support. What was missing was a service that combined everything needed for true independent living, from care management to financial administration.
Drawing on her experience, Julie created a unique Lifestyle Management service that brings together brokerage, budgeting, payroll, recruitment, and ongoing support in one comprehensive package.
By 2010, Julie had supported her first client and AskJules was officially formed. Today, we continue to empower young disabled adults to live independently, take control of their care, and thrive at university and beyond.
