Traditionally most home based care services are centred around either Local Authority or independent care agencies providing regular visits from trained and vetted care workers, selected by the provider of the service and came at set times every day of the week. This works for many but you can, if you wish, choose the people you want to employ to provide your care and support services when you want it.
If you decide to employ a PA you will become an employer and will be responsible for the following:
Health and Safety including some obligatory training and insurance
Arranging working hours with your PAs and keeping records of the hours they work
Regular reporting - You will need to know how you have spent your budget
Pay staff wages and PAYE, NI, holiday pay, sick pay, end of year tax returns, etc.
Askjules can do all or some of this for you and still allow you the freedom to choose the people you want to provide this help.
